Frequently Asked Questions
What is this Travel Fee and will I be charged one?
The travel fee is a $25 ONE time fee that we apply to all moves if you are FURTHER than
15 miles from Downtown St.Louis.
You can enter your street address, city stat and zip into the box below. After you click MAP
IT, a new page will open and give you an estimated mileage. If it is more than 15 miles,
then a travel fee applies to your move. If not, then there are no travel fees associated with
your move.
BUT, if the crew is arriving at a location less than 15 miles from Downtown but then
traveling to a further location, such as loading in the Central West End then unloading in
Defiance, then there may be a travel charge.
Feel free to ask us any questions that you may have regarding the travel fee.
Any tips on how I can reduce the cost of my move? Of course! Here are some helpful tips:
- Do your own packing
- Find boxes at local grocery, wholesale & drug stores. Check out Craig's list
in the FREE section. Consider visiting as apartment complex at the end/beginning of the month
- A cost effective and space efficient tip is to pack breakable items in your
bathroom and kitchen towels, throw rugs, blankets, bed linens, and even shower curtains! This is a much better alternative to newspaper, which leaves ink residue behind. All of your linens can be washed and folded once you have moved into your new home
- Disassemble & Reassemble yourself
- Move as many items on your own as you can ( Lamps, pictures, toys, glass
table tops, yard tools and whatever else possible)
- Have someone at each location to direct the movers and to answer
questions.
- Label items according to where they are to be placed after being unloaded
- Label all boxes by room
- Diagram the layout of the new location and where furniture items are to be
placed when unloaded.
- Get Rid of Unused Items
This is the best time to go through those forgotten boxes and get rid of the things you and your family no longer use. Hold a yard sale prior to moving, sell items to your local second-hand store, online or donate them to charity for a tax write-off. You'll save on moving and gas costs because you'll have less to move.

What are your rates? Click on RATES in the navigation bar to your left on any pages of our website and there you will find our rates, but here they are again! 2 man crew @ $50 per hour 3 man crew @ $60 per hour 4 man crew @ $70 per hour 5 man crew and up, call us for larger crews.
|
Do you have a minimum? Yes we do. We have a 2 hour minimum. After the 2nd hour of your move, we will then charge you in quarterly increments, every 15 minutes. So if your move last 1 hour and 30 minutes, you will pay for the full 2 hours.
|
Do you provide flat rate moves?
We can discuss a flat rate, if you just need a crew to move a few items say from your basement to the 2nd floor. Please contact us to get a flat rate.
|
When should I book my move? The earlier, the better. We ask that we get at least a 24 hour notice. We do provide last minute moves! It's wise to give your moving company from four to six week's notice, if possible.

Do I tip the movers? If so, how much do I tip them?
I had an email from a woman who was moving from one end of the city to another, and
she wanted to know the rules about tipping the movers. It's a good question and one that
not many people ask or are even aware that such a tipping practice exists.
While I've had my share of bad movers, overall, the majority have done their job well. And
when that happens, I certainly compensate the movers not only because a good job
should always be rewarded, but also because I may need their services in future and a
good tip will usually guarantee that they'll go that extra mile should I need them to
Tipping the moving company, and how much to tip, is always a tough decision, but if you
keep the following suggestions in mind, you'll be sure to find a suitable answer for your
particular move. .
The information below is based on receipt of good service. If you feel you aren't receiving
good service, don't feel compelled to tip. Tipping should be reserved for movers who do
their job right. If a mover goes out of their way to accommodate you, then tip accordingly.
1. Provide cold drinks, coffee or whatever is suitable to the weather and time of day. Also
provide food if the move takes a while and extends over the lunch period; pizza,
sandwiches, something quick they can eat while on the move.
2. If there's only one or two movers, tip between $40-60 (to split if there are two)
depending on how hard the move was (stairs, heavy boxes, awkward items, etc...).
3. More than one mover, tip $20 per person and give all the money to the head mover or
supervisor so they can divide it afterward.
4. If you received absolutely amazing service, tips can reach up to $100. But the movers
need to be really good, really helpful and do something beyond the call of duty, such as
helping with last minute packing, taking the time to carefully wrap fragile items, or in my
case once, helping me catch an escaped cat. That's definitely the sign of a really good
and caring mover.
.
What services do you provide? ANYTHING related to moves. We can load and/or unload your rental truck. Full moves. If you need some items moved in your home to another location in your home. Bought new furniture and need to get it home? We can provide you the manpower for anything that you need moved.
|
Do you provide trucks?
No we do not. It keeps the costs way down for our customers. We do have employees
who are willing to use their trucks if needed for a small move or if you need a few items
transported. Please contact us for those rates.
We do suggest that you rent from U-Haul. We have found that their rates are much lower
for short local moves.
What other fees are there besides the hourly rate and if applicable, the travel fee?
There are NO other fees whatsoever.
